How To Cut Down Get Ready Time | It Takes Too Long To Look Put Together

I can hear some of you behind your phone or computer screens saying, Deb It’s great and all to look put together and presentable at all times but it takes too long to get ready in the morning. This article will help you build a system that will help you cut down on your Get Ready Time.

Wardrobe

One of the biggest things that a lot people struggle with when getting ready is putting together an outfit. My best secret for always coming with a winner outfit every time is having a capsule wardrobe that is carefully curated for my body type with colors that suit me very well. Wikipedia defines a capsule wardrobe as a collection of a few essential items of clothing that do not go out of fashion such as skirts, trousers, and Coats which can be augmented with seasonal pieces. I’d add dresses, shoes, bags and accessories to that list as well. I love dresses, they are very feminine and I feel they are needed in every woman’s wardrobe. Dresses are also very easy to style just pick a pair of shoes and a bag and you’re good to go. When creating your capsule wardrobe, you want to pick a color scheme, preferably classic colors and colors that suit you very well and only purchase items within that color scheme and/or items that complement one another. For example my wardrobe consists of neutral colors, whites, beige, black, grey with a pop of red and blush pink. I can create any combination with these colors at any time and it is guaranteed to be a winning outfit combination because all of these colors complement one another.

Hair
Find a hairstyle that compliments the shape of your face, your facial features and stick with it. I used to be the person to experiment a lot with my hair but I got to the point where I have narrowed it down to the styles that I believe compliment my face shape and facial features. When you figure that out, you will be able to perfect your chosen hairstyle and create a system that will work every time. For example, I figured that a long wig, curly or straight compliments my facial features and face shape. I go to a professional to have them install my wig every 2-3 weeks that way it always looks good and all I have to do is curl it in the morning when I am wearing my hair straight or wet my hair and add leave in conditioner when I wear it curly.
Makeup
When it comes to makeup, I suggest to find a makeup look that suits your face shape and facial features and do your makeup the same way daily. The more you do this, the faster you can get it done. I put my full face of makeup on in 10 minutes or less. I also do use my commute time to apply my makeup. If you Uber, drive to the train or to work in the morning you can use that time to apply your makeup.
Nails
I also have a system for my nails to make sure that they always look good. I personally do an acrylic French tip which usually lasts me about a month (I know). But when I reach the 2 weeks mark, I go back to the nail salon and have them add a red color over the acrylic. This would last me a little over a week and I would either go back to add color or remove the acrylic and get them done all over again. The French tip goes with any outfit and the red color works for me because I usually wear a red lip, my look always comes together. I know a lot of people do a gel manicure but I am leaning towards non-toxic everything and I need to look more into gel to see if it is something that I may consider in the future. For nail colors, I recommend a French tip, a blush pink, a nude or a red color.
Skin

Moisturized skin is part of your look as a women who always looks put together. To keep my skin moisturized and glowing, I use all natural non-toxic soaps that I buy at Whole Foods or Trader Joe's. I usually go something made with moisturizing properties like oat or olive oil. I also use a body scrub every other day. I know it is excessive as it is recommended that we scrub our skin about twice a week but I have very dry skin and I need scrubbing more than others. The other thing that I have been doing recently is mixing my body cream/moisturizer with body oils. I learned this trick from my friend Rose. (Check Out Rose’s Blog Here) This combo makes your skin glow. I absolutely love it. I highly recommend Rituals for body scrubs and affordable body oils. (#notsponsored lol)
